$ sudo vi /etc/hosts

Then…

127.0.0.1 www.twitter.com
127.0.0.1 twitter.com

Saves me at least an hour every day. I’m also happier.

  1. @cn True. I usually don’t do that but I’m not sure why. Probably because I have was having issues with things “sticking” a while ago so I wanted to rule out syntax issues. Thanks for reminding me!

  2. @jack @cn that may work, but technically you should list an IP exactly once, and all aliases should follow on the same line. Keep localhost as first entry for 127.0.0.1.
